Many of the vehicles look to have been shipped into the country in pre-loved condition. I’ve seen Toyotas bearing decidedly American bumper stickers touting the Outer Banks beaches of North Carolina and love for golden retrievers. Pondering the preponderance of Toyotas, I decided to do a little unscientific sample.:
While waiting for my taxi driver to pick me up outside a popular Kabul bookstore, I counted vehicle makes that passed me by. Just counting the ones in the lane in front of me, the total was 93 Toyotas, three Suzukis and one Nissan, and one that defied any identification.
